This lesson integrates math and science using varied approaches to research.  The research centers around the Mekong River Delta giant catfish and its population decline. Students will analyze data mathematically as well as using visual and verbal representations.  Students are presented with the problem of the decline of the giant catfish in the Mekong River.  Students in the math setting will be given a set of data to analyze graphically as well as communicating their conclusions to the science group.  The science group will be given literature describing the various possible causes of the decline of the catfish population.  Their task is to communicate this data visually.  After communicating their data to each other, students will then be asked to design a research action plan based on the data presented.
