Interpreting and Representing Heart Rate as a Function of Caffeine Intake

Students explore their pulse at 5 seconds, 15 seconds, and 60 seconds and attempts to answer the question of whether caffeine affects the heart rate. With freedom to represent their data, students produce a wide range of products. With a simple walkabout, other students have the opportunity to interpret numerous representations and build a valuable understanding of how various graphs, charts, and other representations have benefits and drawbacks. This lesson can be easily modified for any math or science class and has potential for various social studies topics.
