Equation of a Line and Intercepts
This lesson incorporates an easy-to-do investigation right into the math classroom. By the end of the lesson, students will have dealt with estimating and calculating slope, collecting data, and the equation of a line. What is really exciting is that this lesson leads students to really think about the equation of a line and see a need for it.
This lesson can be done in isolation in your Algebra 1 class. However, there are also some Algebra 2 extensions for this lesson that deal with quadratic equations, systems of equations, parent graphs, logarithms, and exponents. To find these, search with keyword: beef.
