OTAC: Oklahoma Technical Assistance Center: 2 years, 1 month agoI have begun working on a Biology Curriculum Map that incorporates the K20alt lessons. It is a work in progress but I hope to add some valuable information for teachers and I would love input.

1. Highlight alternative education teachers already teaching with core strategies and get them on the internet.
2. Provide resources, i.e. lesson plans, curriculum maps and resources for teachers.
3. Interact with K20 (?) -

I read this today Kathy. I’m not sure how Pearson curriculum will really evolve to meet the goals of Common Core, but it seems they are receiving a chunk of change to do so. Keeping my fingers crossed…

Let’s continue the dialogue, especially as we prepare for the Summer Conference. This is an opportunity as Common Core gives us a common goal.

OTAC: Oklahoma Technical Assistance Center: 2 years, 1 month agoI like the idea of research. On another post I commented that perhaps we should form a few collaborative committees. Perhaps a committee focused on the suggestions Kathy made could begin researching and discussing some of the things out there. Meanwhile I’ll begin looking up stuff and post anything I find.

What do you all think about that? It wouldn’t pull everyone away from their efforts but it would help us move forward and continue our collaborative efforts?

Part of our PD should include questioning techniques associated with inquiry learning as well as creating a classroom community that allows for discourse. It will be an opportunity to have a large number of teachers together to begin a conversation about moving toward Common Core.
