Lesson Snapshot

1. Engage: Students will view a video on optic illusions.          

2. Explore: Students will analyze a work of art by Victor Vaserly to answer the question, “What elements and/or principles of art create the optical illusion?”             

3. Explain: Students will present their findings from the Explore section.  Students will learn how the artist has created the illusion of  three-dimensions on a two-dimensional flat surface.                

4. Extend/Expand: Students will create a cube that has an optical illusion on each flat surface.

5. Evaluate: Students will evaluate their cube based on the rubric criteria.
